Biography
I have over 18 years of racing experience in high-level amateur competition and now, having recently trained as an ABCC coach, am able to put something back into sport by helping others achieve their goals.
Like many riders new to the sport, I struggled at first to optimise my training techniques and diet but, with commitment, perseverance and research, managed to get results. I'm passionate about motivating riders and, in my early days as a cycle coach, have had considerable success, especially with those who have limited training time.
I still regularly compete in road races and time trials at the top level, and have ridden for the winning In-Gear Quick-Vit racing team for the last six years. In-Gear is also the home of the UK's most experienced and successful Tour de France rider, Sean Yates, as well as the current national time trial champion Michael Hutchinson.
The In-Gear team won the National 10 mile TT team prize in 2006 and 2007 and the National 25 mile TT team prize in 2007 - two of the team's riders, Peter Tadros and James Dear, are coached by me!
I am a fully qualified ABCC (Association Of British Cycling Coaches) coach. To achieve this I have successfully passed the comprehensive distance learning course which consisted of 6 separate modules covering the following subjects in depth:
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Basic Fitness Training
- Training for all cycling disciplines
- Fitness Testing
- Race Tactics
- Periodisation
- Nutrition
- Tapering
- Overtraining
- Sports Psychology
- Position On the Bike
- Aerodynamics! |
