Trainsharp Testimonials - Aaron Pan (Singapore)

I have been looking high and low for a coach that can help me and guide me to better cycling performance. It's been about 4-6months that I've been doing this and to be honest, i can't find a suitable coach in Singapore because cycling in Singapore is not a very recognized sport as compared to Sailing and Soccer. There are coaches in cycling but thats only if you're in the national team. Sadly, i'm not. At first, my parents objected to it as they feel that sailing had a better future for me and cycling is just too dangerous in singapore with all the reckless drivers. The drivers in Singapore seldom care about cyclists, they can't even be bothered to leave house earlier so that they don't have to speed to work and have an extra risk of getting involved in an accident. As cyclists, we are doing out part by training in the wee hours of the morning. But, as we know cyclists do have different kinds of training. When we do our endurance ride which probably lasts 6hours, you can't expect us to wake up at 2am to ride. As the peak hour is usually at 8am and all of us target to be home by 730am so as to avoid all the nasty traffic and drivers. Soon, my parents knew that there was no way they could stop me from cycling. Honestly, i thank them for giving me the chance to chase something that i love. I know that they want me to succeed in everything that i do and pursue. Which parents don't want to see their children being the best they can be? Practically none.
I realized i was going nowhere in cycling. Took part in a couple of races and finished pretty averagely in the bunch. My parents and peers supported me through the races and cheered me on. However, i failed to deliver. They still did put on a smile and gave me words of encouragement after these races. I could tell that they were quite disappointed as they thought i'd fair better. Soon, i realized if i want to succeed, i need someone who can monitor my progress and help me peak at the right times. I train without any proper program and this is especially hard because you might experience a burnout very soon. That's not something that i want as it will drastically reduce my love for the sport. Some days, i feel really good and that's when i hit my peak. But, my peak is usually at the wrong time and when competition comes, my performance is already dipping. This is very discouraging for me.
Thankfully, I managed to find Train Sharp and contact Mr Jon Sharples. He is a really nice and understanding guy. i look forward to the training each week as I am improving fast and learning all the ‘tricks of the trade’ from him. I believe he will help me achieve my goal of being the cyclist I dream of and achieving my next immediate goals .
