Andy Langdown is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in disorders of the Hip and Knee. He trained in Birmingham, Bristol, Oxford and Sydney. Based in Portsmouth for the last 10 years he has developed considerable experience in managing patients with acute injuries and chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis.
Andy established the Young Adult Hip Clinic, based in Chichester, and has consequently acquired significant expertise in arthroscopic (keyhole) hip surgery. Andy is also an accomplished knee surgeon undertaking a wide variety of procedures from keyhole surgery through ligament reconstruction and also joint replacement.
In his youth Andy was a keen footballer and cricketer, playing both to District & County level. At University he was a member of the basketball team that were National Champions in 1991. In recent years Andy has taken up cycling and is an avid time-triallist, winning the Portsdown Time Trial League in 2012 and 2013.
Andy has a thorough understanding of the mentality of both elite level and weekend warrior sports enthusiasts, realising that recovery and rehabilitation from injury are both individual and specific to the patient. He is very approachable and has developed a reputation for his ability to tailor treatment specifically for each patient.
A family man, married with 2 children, Andy is driven by a passion to achieve great results, whether this is with respect to his patients or on his bike!
